    Re: End of Christianity...

    Found this on the subject....

Jesus? brothers are mentioned in several Bible verses. Matthew 12:46, Luke 8:19, and Mark 3:31 say that Jesus? mother and brothers came to see Him. The Bible tells us that Jesus had four brothers: James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas (Matthew 13:55). The Bible also tells us that Jesus had sisters, but they are not named or numbered (Matthew 13:56). In John 7:1-10, His brothers go on to the festival while Jesus stays behind. In Acts 1:14, His brothers and mother are described as praying with the disciples. Later, in Galatians 1:19, it mentions that James was Jesus? brother. The most natural conclusion of these passages is to interpret that Jesus had actual blood siblings.

Some Roman Catholics claim that these ?brothers? were actually Jesus? cousins. However, in each instance, the specific Greek word for ?brother? is used. While the word can refer to other relatives, its normal and literal meaning is a physical brother. There was a Greek word for cousin, and it was not used. Further, if they were Jesus? cousins, why would they so often be described as being with Mary, Jesus? mother? There is nothing in the context of His mother and brothers coming to see Him that even hints that they were anyone other than His literal, blood-related half-brothers.

I've heard that explination before and we have debated in a course I'm taking whether or not the Bible was referencing brothers or cousins. Lot of interesting things in the Bible that you can debate, another one that comes up a lot in our course is why Joseph stayed with Mary knowing he was not the biological father of the child she was about to birth.

That one shouldn't be that hard to come up with an answer on I wouldn't think.

Obviously, the first thought is the angel telling Joseph.

What's the difference in you lobbying for the other side? That's a special interest group too genius.

I don't blame all my problems on Satan. I make my own choices, and i live with them and pay the consequenses. This was the free will God gave us.

Ok "genius", the point of that was to say that you, no matter what the cause, are going to go against the mainstream belief. For attention sake. Or because Obama says so.

Or could it be that I believe in it? I could say the same with you siding with whatever the Bible or whoever is leading the NRA says. Goes both ways.

    Re: End of Christianity...

I'm always curious as to who the "Mary" was at the foot of the cross, when Jesus was being crucified?
Was it actually his mother, or Mary Magledine (SP?)?

Does Jesus ever get married? have children? etc?
I've read and heard, it was against the law in that time, for a man of Jesus' age to not be married.

then back to Adam and Eve.. they're just the first mentioned humans, right? there's no proof that there weren't other humans first, right?

and 1 more thing... the KJV of the Bible... the language and grammar used for it, that wasn't even the way they said words during that time. That' been proven by historians... it was translated to his liking, and he wanted it to sound more divine.

    Re: End of Christianity...

There is one mention, I think in John and maybe somewhere else, of the three Mary's being present.

That would probably have been his mother, his mothers sister and Mary Magdalene.
